OSUIT-VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS
Yes, The Opportunities Are...Limitless.
OSUIT's Visual Communications has an incredible reputation and legacy. Recently the administration restructured the academic programs. I hope the achievements made in the past 60+ years continue to prepare it's new Visual Communications graduates as it did with the past alumni. For over 20 years I was honored to be an instructor where I had the opportunity to mentor and guide hundreds of graduates as they entered the visual communications profession.
I am now retired but still work as a Branding Consultant for a great business. I still look forward to attending the Capstone class Portfolio Review at the end of each semester. It is an honor to talk with and critique students portfolios. Their fresh ideas on Graphic Design, Branding, Typography, and Photography is impressive. One of my most rewarding classes Capstone (portfolio) is a great class that pushes the students every day. My past experiences as a Creative Director, Art Director, and Graphics Manager was a great training ground for developing the curriculum and daily situations and problems that the students encounter with each class. They are subjected to troubleshooting design issues and brainstorm situations every day with their clients and target audiences. They are tested with critiques and find solutions for their mistakes daily. These are the building blocks to learning in the visual communications industry. I also miss learning as much from students as they do from me.
